This modern museum houses a collection of over 9,500 artworks, with a special emphasis on Impressionist and modern Japanese paintings. The building sits within a beech forest, with nature trails connecting it to the surrounding woodland. From the resort, take the “S” bus line to reach the museum.

Japan’s first French-style garden, established in 1914, features seasonal flowers, a rose garden, and a traditional tea house. The park is located on a hillside with terraced landscaping. Visitors can participate in craft workshops, including glass blowing, pottery, and sandblasting, at the on-site Hakone Craft House.
The park looks stunning during autumn when maple leaves turn red and gold. You can reach the park from the resort by local bus to Gōra Station. From there, it’s a short walk uphill.

- Hakone Venetian Glass Museum (Glass Forest)
This is Japan’s first museum showcasing Venetian glass, with artworks from the 15th to 18th centuries. The museum’s grounds feature a European-style garden with glass sculptures and a glass arch that sparkles in sunlight.
The café serves Italian food with views of the surrounding mountains. It’s located in Sengokuhara, about 15 minutes by car or local bus from the resort.

- Lake Ashi
Lake Ashi was formed thousands of years ago following a volcanic eruption from Mount Hakone. You can catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji from the lake on clear days, which looks magnificent, especially early in the morning. There are sightseeing boats styled after historic pirate ships that cross the lake between several ports.
From Moto-Hakone port, you can walk to Hakone Shrine with its famous red torii gate standing in the water. The boat ride takes approximately 30 minutes one way, allowing you to take photos of the mountain scenery.
Sitting at 723 metres above sea level, this is Japan’s highest-altitude aquarium with seawater tanks. The facility houses around 32,000 marine creatures, including Baikal seals, Asian small-clawed otters, and penguins, and over 450 species of fish.
This aquarium is located within the Hakone-en leisure complex, about 20 minutes by car from the resort.
