Overlooking nearby Lake Hibara and the Bandai Asahi National Park, this lakeside resort is famed for its natural surroundings. Newly renovated and opened in late 2015, Urabandai Lake Resort comprises a luxurious wing and a soothing onsen with water piped in from the Nekoma Hot Springs (day trip services available). Japanese and French restaurants, a cafe, an art gallery, retail outlets and day spa are some of the resort’s other offerings. Overlooking Mt. Bandai, one of Japan’s top 100 mountains, Lake Ebara spreads underneath. Goshikinuma, which is famous for weaving various colours every time you see it, is a 3-minute walk away. Urabandai is part of the Bandai-Asahi National Park and its spectacular alpine scenery attracts all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts including hikers, climbers, anglers, skiers and snowboarders. Urabandai has a humid climate with warm summers and cold winters. The annual mean temperature is 9°C, with an average maximum of 23°C in summer & an average minimum of -5°C in winter.

  • Language: There may not be English speaking staff at this resort
  • Bathing: All rooms have a private bathroom at this resort, with a shower and/or bathtub. Public bath is an Indoor Onsen (mineral hot spring) Information on onsen etiquette can be found here from the Japan National Tourism Organisation. Private outdoor hot spring available for additional cost.
  • Shoe Free Apartments: Guests must remove their shoes at the entrance of the Japanese rooms.
  • Bedding : This resort has a mix of Western style twin beds and traditional Japanese futons. Please refer to the room description for details of which bedding your room type has. Traditional Japanese futons are slim, rectangular, cushions. These are thin, usually only measure 3 to 4 inches in height, and a single sleeping width to be used on top of a woven Tatami Mat. They are meant to be rolled up or folded and stored away when not in use.

  • Check in: Check-in: 3:00pm & Check-out: 11:00am. Must advise if arriving and checking-in after 6:00pm, reception closes at 9:00pm. After hours check in available with prior notice, please contact resort directly to arrange.
  • Laundry : No laundry facilities. The nearest laundromat is in Inawashiro (17 km away from the resort).
  • Wi-Fi: Free WiFi is available at this resort.
  • Rollaway Beds/Cots/Highchairs : Not available at this resort.

  • Snow Chains: If driving there in winter, then would strongly recommend using snowchains and / or studless snow tyres.

  • Transfers: Free scheduled transfers to & from Inawashiro station available. Departs the station at 10:10am, 12:10pm, 2:10pm & 4:10pm daily. Departs the resort at 7:55am, 9:15am, 11:15am, 1:05pm & 3:05pm daily.
