Overview

The Sundance Resort Izu-Kogen is located in the Izukogen Highlands in the city of Ito, known as a summer resort area with plenty of nature to enjoy in the mountains or along the sea. In addition to its beautiful natural surroundings, another charm of the Izukogen Highlands is its numerous art and history museums. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighboured by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies. Izu-Kogen has a moderate maritime climate with hot, humid summers, and short, cool winters. The annual mean temperature is 15°C, with an average maximum of 25°C in summer & an average minimum of 5°C in winter.

IMPORTANT: This resort has limited rooms with private bathrooms and western style beds. All other rooms have a private toilet only and no private bath or shower. Bathing for those rooms is via public baths only in the indoor onsen (mineral hot springs). Clothing, swimwear and the display of tattoos are not permitted in onsens.
