Before You Go

The team at Dinner Plain are ready to welcome Owners for the 2022 Ski Season!

With 23cms of snowfall overnight and favorable conditions for snow making, Vail is excited to announce that Mt Hotham Slopes will be opening early this Saturday 4 June.

Guests must purchase their lift tickets online. As with previous seasons, lessons may sell out during peak periods, and they recommend all guests purchase their lift tickets, lessons and rentals online and in advance.

They have also introduced new lift ticket pick up machines that are spread throughout the resort (Mt Hotham). This means that guests will be able to hit the slopes faster by purchasing their lift ticket online to collect at one of our pickup machine when they arrive in resort – before heading straight to the slopes.

CRITICAL INFORMATION – MUST READ:

Effective from Monday 12th July 2021, all owners/guests checking into CWSP Properties MUST present photo ID in the form of a passport or driver’s license upon check-in. The ID must match the reservation in the Hotel’s PMS (Property Management System) and credit card provided. Guest name MUST be added to the reservation at time of booking, or prior to check-in. Travel to Dinner Plain

If you have not driven to Dinner Plain before it is STRONGLY recommended to travel during daylight hours and review the Alpine forecast before departing.   During weather events the Alpine Road can be closed for long periods of time during the day so travel prepared with warm clothing, food and water for the trip. We recommend travelling to the resort via Omeo as it is the smoother and safer drive, especially during the winter months.

Resort Entry

During the declared snow season all visitors to Mt Hotham must pay a resort entry fee, which covers essential winter services provided to guests, including the Mt Hotham Ski Patrol, village snow clearing, free village transport, traffic and car parking services, cross country trail grooming, waste management and environmental management.  If you travel directly through the resort from Dinner Plain / Omeo to Harrietville or Harrietville to Dinner Plain / Omeo and do not stop, you will not require a resort entry permit.  Your resort exit point must differ from your resort entry point.  If using the facilities at Mt Hotham we recommend purchasing your tickets 7 days in advance as this will be the most cost effective option.

Chains

To ensure you and other road users can reach the slopes more safely, diamond pattern wheel chains must be carried during the snow season and fitted when directed. Chains can be hired from several locations prior to ascending the mountain.

Make sure your diesel vehicle is well prepared for the cold temperatures at Hotham. If you drive a diesel vehicle, you’ll need to fill up with a special ‘Winter mix’, also known as ‘Alpine Diesel’, which is sold in towns close to Hotham such as Omeo, Bright and Myrtleford. Petrol vehicles do not require special fuel mixes.  https://www.mthotham.com.au/discover/explore/getting-here/alpine-diesel
