Nevada State Railroad Museum

Tallac Historic Site

The 74-acre Tallac Historic site captures how life was in turn-of-the-20th-century South Lake Tahoe. The site features the remains of the Tallac Resort and three large summer estates built by wealthy San Franciscans. 3 mi. north of South Lake Tahoe.

Emerald Bay State Park

Designated an underwater state park, Emerald Bay is the resting place for boats, launches and barges used in the lake before the turn-of-the-20th-century. The park also is home to Vikingsholm, a Scandinavian-style castle, which once was the home of heiress Lora Josephine Knight. 22 mi. south of Tahoe City.
